At a February 2023 meeting of the Washington Elementary School District board, a unanimous vote to end a voluntary contract with Arizona Christian University over a violation of the School District’s nondiscrimination policy resulted in individual board members coming under attack.
“School board members play a critical role in defining and enforcing policies that help to create safer, more affirming school environments for Arizona students,” said GLSEN Arizona Co-chair Andi Young.

GLSEN Arizona stands against personal attacks that endanger the individuals who have been elected to serve our school communities, regardless of their religion and other world views.
